Bruce Burgess (Club Patron)

Bruce is a Fellow of the Photographic Society of New Zealand and has had a lifetime passion for the medium of photography, achieving numerous competition medals and awards over the years.

Bruce joined the Henderson Photographic Society (Inc) in 1989; was the club’s President from 1996 – 1998 and also served many years within the club’s many committee functions, including being on the organising committee and treasurer when the club hosted the successful PSNZ National Convention in 1994.

After over two decades of operating his own business in the finance world, Bruce is now retired and has time to enjoy some freelance photography in the field of travel, photojournalism and people photography. In 2006, he was invited by the Chinese Photographers Association to join a team of 8 international photographers to capture the traditions and people in two Chinese provinces. These photographs are to be the subject of his second published book.

Bruce has a philosophy in photography to adopt a personal style that portrays an artistic vision which can also be emotionally powerful. Also, it must be fun!
